Welcome to the next stop of the “Oh, Scrap!” blog hop and giveaway to Celebrate the release of Lissa’s new book.
I am both honored and excited to be a part of this group of amazing quilters. I have been friends with Lissa since 1992 when I moved to Texas. She was the manager “The Old Craft Store” a quilt store outside of Dallas. They were having a bus trip to Houston for the quilt show ( I had no Idea how big a show it was) I signed up. I did not know anyone on the bus since I was new to the state. Lissa invited me to share a room with her and have been friends ever since.
I love scrap quilts. Lissa’s new book is full beautiful photographs and great instructions for all the scrappy quilts. It was impossible for me to pick just one as my favorite.
If I had to pick the first one I want to make it would be “Firecraker.” I love patriotic quilts. I have been looking at my red, white, and blue fabrics to make this quilt. This quilt could be easily be made a variety colors. You could also use layer cakes and Cake Mix recipe #3 to help make all the half square triangles. I have a big basket of left over half square triangles that I may combine for a real scrappy look.
“Stair Steps” is another one of my favorites. I love all the color and the differant patterns you see in the quilt. Everytime I look at it I notice something new.
Lissa and I don’t get to see each other very much since I don’t live in Texas anymore, but I did get to see her at Quilt-Con were she had a book signing. I bought two books. One for me and one for my niece who is enjoying sewing and quilting.
I hope you enjoy the book. For a change to win and E-Book leave a comment and tell me your favorite quilt block to make and I will draw a winner 10pm (Mountain time) On Friday. I will be at the shop we are having a night UFO.

I agree I like the FireCracker and Stair Steps quilts. Favorite block over all, probably too many. Probably nine patch or 8 patch stars. Blocks I can make from 2 1/2 inch strips.

Probably my favorite block is a log cabin because it is so versatile. I have made many versions of this block. I’d guess I’ve made about a dozen quilts with some form of log cabins. I’m a big fan of scrappy quilts and this book looks wonderful!
